And So It Was Friday
I’m almost done with the days of the week. Promise. But until then, it was Friday, and a rather fun one at that. How did it begin you ask? With birthday surprises! One of the city girl’s best friends was celebrating a very important birthday. Alas, it was an occasion for shopping, of course. The city girls sticks to a few signature gifts for special occasions. For this particular one, she chose a giant cupcake and champagne.
Once the gifts were purchased, it was time to deliver them. So, they met at one of the city girl’s favorite food trucks, 2FAT2FLYWINGS. It’s the second time I’ve mentioned them. If you haven’t gone yet, go. But I understand if you’re waiting for the third time’s a charm thing. (Keep on reading…). While waiting on lunch, the city girl popped into One Eared Cow Glass to see beautiful things she cannot afford. They did have some less expensive offerings that would make great gifts for any occasion. They even told me that when I win the lottery and redo my kitchen they would craft me a handblown glass kitchen sink. And they assured me that it was completely safe since I eat out all of the time. Yippee! Then lunch was ready. Another yippee is in order. So, while enjoying lunch, there were gifts, too. Makes for an excellent Friday.
Lucky for they city girl, the day was only starting. It was time to head to Cromer’s for some tailgate prep. The guaranteed worst tailgate snacks in town, but really the best. And this year, they’ve started giving away those awesome “BEAT THE OTHER TEAM” stickers. Win! The city girl picked up a few things and plenty of stickers to share with friends for the game.
After picking up tailgating snacks, she picked up a friend. They headed to the new coffee shop in town, Peace, Love, and Rocky Roast. (She mentioned it in this post.) It was Friday and there was a game and that meant it was time for a treat, especially since there wasn’t any dessert at lunch. So, they split a gelato, the cookies and cream variety. And it was divine. See for yourself.
In addition to the gelato, there were coffee table books lying around for your browsing pleasure. Totally neat. And there was music playing – music isn’t my thing, so I can’t tell who it was or if it was good (I think that’s all opinion anyway) but there was music and of course the aroma of coffee. A most fabulous Friday afternoon treat!
Post treat, they city girl went home for a bit to rest – yes, she does that – because her gay husband was coming into town for the football game the next day. She knew it was gonna be a long night, no excuses, so a bit of rest was in order.
The gay husband arrived later in the evening. The city girl was just beside herself that he was in town. He had listened to her rave about the food truck culture in her famously hot city but had not had the chance to try it for himself. What did the city girl do? She took him to the Vista Grill for some 2FAT2FLYWINGS! (That’s the third time y’all – so go ahead, follow them on twitter and make it a point to try some un-clucking believable wings.) They enjoyed wings and beverages and then decided it was time to begin the evening.
It started at one of they city girl’s favorite spots with beverages. It continued at one of her gay husband’s favorite spots with beverages. Later, it led to a late night grocery store run and then more beverages at home and even more laughs. The details will remain secret to protect the guilty. But stay tuned for more adventures tomorrow.

That is my birthday cupcake and champagne! Perfectly classic present
